Journée internationale de la Francophonie

Learn to pronounce the basic vocabulary in French.

Every March 20 the International Francophonie Day (or Journée internationale de la Francophonie) is celebrated, promoted by the International Organisation of La Francophonie. It "represents one of the biggest linguistic zones in the world", as can be read in its website. Not only do its members share a common language, but they also promote the humanist values of the language.

This organisation was created in 1970 and its mission is to embody the active solidarity between the 84 member states and governments that can be found within the organisation, "which together represent over one-third of the United Nations' member states and account for a population of over 900 million people, including 274 million French speakers".

Taking advantage of this celebration, we propose some basic vocabulary in French which may raise your curiosity in this special day. Enjoy it!
